Crown and Bridges

– A crown is used to entirely cover or cap a tooth.

– Dentist may recommend a crown to:

  • replace a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth structure remaining.
  • protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • restore a fractured tooth
  • attach a bridge
  • cover an implant
  • cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth
  • cover a root-treated tooth

– Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth.

– It spans a space where one or more teeth have been lost in the mouth.

– Materials used for both crown and bridge are metal, gold, ceramic or combination of metal fused to porcelain.
